Colonics is the ancient art of colon cleanse.  It has been practiced for thousands of years in many civilizations all over the world.  The end products of digestion are toxic wastes which need to be eliminated from the body.  Unfortunately this does not always happen.  Waste that is not eliminated continues to be absorbed into the blood stream, and poison the body.

The colon, or large intestine, is as long as the individual is tall.  A five foot tall woman has a five foot colon, and a six foot tall man has a six foot colon.  The colon is approximately 2 ½ inches wide.  It is where the body stores the waste products of digestion for elimination.  When an individual is constipated, this waste remains in the colon to ferment and putrefy.  Toxins from this uneliminated waste are absorbed into the body through the colon wall into the blood stream.

Constipation is defined as having less than several bowel movements a day, or one bowel movement for each meal eaten.  Chronic constipation affects a vast majority of people.  It reduces the quality of life and health because the body is poisoning itself with toxic waste.

Colonics are gentle, painless, non-invasive, and safe.  Supplies are disposable; therefore, there can be no transmission of disease.  The Client is draped modestly for the maximum privacy.  The equipment used is U.S.F.D.A. approved.  Only the purest water is used to cleanse the colon.  The water is filtered through four filters and an Ultra Violet light is used to kill bacteria for maximum purity.  Colonics rinse out the colon, or large intestine.  The water does not go any further.  The illiocecal valve is in between the small and large intestines.  This one way valve allows material to pass from the small intestine to the large intestine, but not back.

Light massage alleviates discomfort and aids in elimination.  The colonic machine has an illuminated viewing tube allowing the Therapist and Client to see what is being eliminated from the colon: feces, mucus, gas, undigested food, etc.  As the waste is eliminated from the body, temporary detox symptoms may occur: nausea, light headedness, or chills.  These symptoms quickly disappear and the end result is renewed energy, and a feeling of calmness and well being.  The body is refreshed, rejuvenated, and healthier.  A treatment lasts for 45 minutes, but is scheduled for an hour to allow time for changing.  No preparation is necessary for a treatment.

Maintaining colon health requires a diet that is high in fiber, preferably raw foods such as salads, raw vegetables, and fruits and sprouts are best.  In addition, supplementing the diet with Probiotics assures the presence of “good” bacteria in the colon to maintain a proper balance with the “bad” bacteria.  Enzyme supplements can aid in breaking down food in digestion.  Certain oils can have helpful affects on colon health.  Herbal stool softeners are available for those times when a little natural help is needed between visits to the Colon Therapist.
